Who am I? We all face this question. As a believer, we can still struggle with understanding who we are in Jesus. Our first week back in 2026 we look at our Rock, Jesus and how we abide in Him.

Christ is our Solid Rock

As followers of Jesus, we have to find our identity in Him and in him alone. We cannot think as the World and find our identity in expensive clothing, popularity, our gender or social media. We belong to Jesus, that's who we are. Jesus is our Rock, and when the storms of life come our way, we need to hide ourselves in Him.

We cling to Jesus! How do we do this?

John 15 talks about remaining in Jesus. (Read John 15)

How do we remain in Jesus?

  • Praying

  • Reading the Bible

  • Community / church / praying with others

  • Godly Music

  • Devotional Time with God

  • Make Jesus the Lord of your life, not just your saviour

When we chose to follow Jesus, the enemy comes after us, because he is trying to extinguish the light that the Holy Spirit lights in us. We need to put the amour of God on and remain in Christ but, to be honest, we need to focus on Jesus, not the enemy. Jesus has already defeated the enemy so we just need to faithfully follow Jesus, and He takes care of the attacks.

Finally, God is always with you, nothing you can do can separate you from the Love of Jesus (Romans 8:38-39). Even when we sin, God is still with us, even if it feels like we have walked a million miles away from Jesus, He said He will never leave us or forsake us. The Lion of the Tribe of Judah is with you, defending you, loving you, guiding you. We need to seek Jesus with everything we've got, trust in Him that He is walking every day with us and trust in His gift of Salvation.

Scriptures we went through:

  • John 15 - The instruction from God's Word to remain in Jesus

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 - Talking about who we are in Jesus

  • 2 Timothy 2:22 - Running away from things that keep us away from Jesus

  • 2 Chronicles 13:1 - God will always confirm and establish His word with 2 or 3 witnesses. If you have heard something from God, and it is from God, He will always give you more than one word.
